DeNate - Reminisce In the midst of a cold winter, the last thing any of us want to feel is anything synonymous with the word to ‘chill’. But listening to something associated with that word is enough to take away the winter blahs, with the new offering from De’Nate’ (pronounced Dee-Nat-ay) titled ‘Reminisce’. The exciting new  ‘super group’ consists of Canadian sax-man Darren Rahn, vocalist Deborah Connors, and multi-instrumentalist Nate Harasim, and the band’s initial offering is ten wonderfully performed and smoothly produced songs.

‘Reminisce’ is an ultra-chic, smooth/r’n’b arrangement with Connor’s gently-piercing and somewhat breathy vocals mixed into ultimate ‘chill’ grooves. Each song is anything but repetitive, yet remains entirely in the ‘chill’ vein. The lead-off single, ‘Sweet Dreams’ (heard exclusively on The Wave) is a re-birth of the 1983 Eurythmics  pop classic, with a newer hip and fresh sound. The up-tempo sound continues on the title song, as well as
‘All You Are To Me’.

It’s my personal favourite with Connors singing from deep inside the heart and soul on this love song overtop of the tantalizing percussion and bass rhythms. ‘Miss’n’You’ brings the tempo down a notch as  De’Nate’ romances you with this chill-ballad.  ‘Secret Garden’ is extremely sexy, as Connors pairs up with the smooth r’n’b vocals of Maurice Mahon, and that ‘feel’ continues on ‘So Sexy’, which features Quincy Jones and El Debarge as contributing writers.  If there ever was an album that offers positive wall-to-wall grooves, ‘Reminisce’ is definitely it. It’s over 30 minutes of magic with hypnotic beats, sexy rhythms, stylish electronica melodies, infectious horns, as well as soft yet powerful sultry vocals, produced with a non-repetitive ‘pop’ flavor.  Sliding this CD into your player is guaranteed to turn your living room or car into your own personal ‘chill lounge’.
